Person Centred Counselling
A Safe Space to Grow
About Me
Hello and a warm welcome to Self – Person-Centred Counselling.
My name is Chemene, and I’m a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor based in Bedfordshire. At Self, I believe that every individual holds the capacity to heal, grow, and create positive change in their life.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. My approach is grounded in warmth, empathy, and genuine care — placing you at the very heart of the therapy process. Together, we can work towards helping you reconnect with your inner strength and resources, supporting personal growth, self-acceptance, and emotional well-being.
I am passionately committed to walking alongside my clients on their journey towards self-discovery and a more fulfilling, meaningful life.
I work in association with, and am a member of, the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and I trained in association with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means I hold a recognised qualification, adhere to a professional code of ethics, and receive regular supervision — ensuring I work to the highest possible standard for you.
I provide Person-Centred Therapy and have previously worked in both schools and within the NHS. I support young people from age 7, as well as adults, couples, and families.
Having lived experience myself, I’m particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals, with extensive experience of ADHD, ADD, ASD, and AuDHD.
I offer a deeply safe and understanding space where we work together to overcome personal challenges and improve overall mental well-being.

Testimonials
I was going through unresolved bereavement following a miscarriage that triggered previous miscarriages I had not dealt with. The grief I supressed eventually caught up with me. Chemene helped me to process my grief and find peace with my losses. She also helped me to realise my strength was great. Speaking to her made me realise and appreciate that I already had the necessary tools to live the life I wanted. Her reassurances and her support, the questions she asked of me, helped me to realise my wisdom in knowing how to deal with certain situations and to have faith in that knowledge and not doubt it. I knew what to do, I always did.
Chemene helped me to reflect on the choices I made and those that I wanted to make for myself. To move towards decisions that put me first and not feel guilty or selfish for doing so. I'm grateful to her for this. Chemene was easy to talk to and made a lot of effort to ensure I was comfortable and gave me the time and space to unload what was on my mind. Chemene has made me appreciate the benefits of therapy. I now encourage friends to use it. Chemene helped me to make sense of what I was going through, she was impartial and simply had my best interests at heart. She helped me to realise my own strength and gave me the reassurance that I know what to do when times get tough and to trust myself to do what I know to be right for me.

I respect you greatly, you have helped beyond what I thought was possible. I don't know if I would be here without you in all honesty. Respect always to you for the significant change you have made, not just to me but my children's lives too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can come to you for counselling?
Young people from 11 years old and adults.
How many sessions will I need?
Sometimes it’s a good starting point to say 12 sessions. I review with my clients regularly to see how they feel their journey is going. However I offer open ended sessions so, as many as you feel you’d like.
Do you offer a consultation/introductory session?
Yes I do. I offer a 20 minute session to enable you to get to meet me and see if you want to work with me. I can gain an understanding of how you’d like to work too.
Once I pick face to face or online- do I have to stay with that?
No, we can do a blended mix of face to face or online. We can discuss this at the start of your journey.
“Healing is never a straight line. At times you will walk with your anger, rage, sadness, shock or discontentment but know that I am walking beside you. I’ll meet you where you are and be with you until you are where you want to be.”
